First Announcement
ELECTRON BEAM TECHNOLOGY AND APPLICATIONS
(SEBTA 2005)
Organised at
BHABHA ATOMIC RESEARCH CENTER, MUMBAI
In Association with
POWER BEAM SOCIETY OF INDIA (PSI)
during
SEPTEMBER 28-30, 2005.
Electron Beam (EB) Technology, at present, finds wide applications not only in nuclear, aerospace and defense-related industries but also in conventional engineering practice. Electron Beam technologies have distinguished themselves in terms of compactness, process efficiency, eco-conservation, techno-economics, and innovative possibilities. As we advance in to the new technology era, there is a need for evolving strategies to apply the EB technology to large number of industrial sectors. The number of users of EB machines is steadily increasing throughout the country. In recent years, the use of electron beams is becoming common practice to develop novel materials, to increase specific yields and to improve the all-round product quality.
The DAE-BRNS Symposium (SEBTA-2005) will be held at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai during September 28-30, 2005 in association with the Power Beam Society of India (PSI). BARC has a long tradition in the design and development of electron beam machines and processes for thermal and non-thermal applications. Apart from developing high power beams for thermal applications, BARC is currently involved in establishing an Electron Beam Centre for radiation processing of various materials.
This symposium will provide an opportunity for active researchers, scientists and industries to review the current scenario, to share the available expertise and to consider directions for future development. There will be review and invited talks by eminent engineers and scientists with long years of practical experience in this field.
MAJOR THEMES TO BE COVERED:
Overview of Electron Beam Technology in India
EB systems for thermal processing of materials
EB accelerators for non thermal processing of materials
Beam characterization
Beam and process modeling
Physical processes during Electron Beam welding, melting and evaporation
Electron Beam irradiation for polymers, medical sterilization etc
Instrumentation related to monitoring, control and diagnostics
High voltage DC and pulsed power sources
Maintenance and trouble shooting of EB equipment
The symposium will be organized at Multipurpose Hall of BARC Training School Hostel at Anushaktinagar, Mumbai 400 094 during September 28-30, 2005.
PARTICIPATION
The participation in the symposium is open to all the active workers in the field. The registration fee for the symposium is as follows
i) Student Participants Rs. 250
ii) PSI Members Rs. 500
iii) Participants from Academic and Research Institutions Rs 600
