The Power Beam Society
of India
PSI is a Non profit organization founded with a mission to bridge
the gap between laboratory and industry for power beam application.
The concept nucleated as a result of intensive open forum discussions
during the DAE-BRNS Symposium on power beams (laser, plasma ,
electron beams) & Materials processing held during September
2002 at BARC, Mumbai. The need to shift the focus onto the technology
of Plasmas, Lasers or Particle beams has become absolutely essential
for meaningful applications in the energy and materials processing
industry. The current degree of maturity in beam technologies
and the available knowledgebase in research institutes in India
was considered a key factor for timely intervention.
Broad objectives of the society are as
follows:
- To generate interest in beam technology in India.
- To facilitate the information exchange between research
institutions and the industry in India.
- To explore the possible applications of beam technology
in various fields.
- To bring the beam technology in India at a level at par
with the advanced nations.
The PSI would hold meetings, symposia, workshops and training
programs to facilitate broad basing of the available expertise.
It would serve to bring experts and users together for faster
problem solving in industrial applications. We would also strive
to spread the state of art in these technologies through internet
and print media.
